Woman to face charges after Folly Bridge crash
FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCSC) - Folly Beach officials say a woman will face charges after a multi-vehicle crash on Folly Bridge Wednesday night.
Aisha Alston, 22, will face a reckless driving charge, according to Chief Andrew Gilreath with the Folly Beach Department of Public Safety.
Witnesses say Alston was traveling to Folly Beach from James Island at a high rate of speed around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to Chief Andrew Gilreath. He said she attempted to pass another vehicle on the bridge when her car struck another car head on.
Authorities say Alston has not yet been booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center because she is still in the hospital.
Gilreath said Alston received serious injuries.
Charleston County EMS and deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
